It’s confirmed again and again - HD DVD has the best quality
Yes – YOU all know it’s always been true. Award after award has been given to the Toshiba HD DVD players for their fantastic picture quality. Acclamations have been printed about the movies released on HD DVD having the best picture quality also. Certainly, HD DVD has movie picture quality that has been consistently better than the “competing format”.
A lot of noise was made by some Bluray fans in online forums saying that BR picture quality had caught up to HD DVD, but it’s all mostly hot air to just try to make people think so.
This very week, we have some more awards that have come in for HD DVD.
Home Theatre Magazine, in their “2007 Rave Awards” have selected as their choice for “Best Source Component over $500” (in other words, there is no higher), the Toshiba XA1. Those of you with an A1 will remember that they are functionally identical for the most part. My A1 has always thrilled me, and my XA2 continues to do so today also. Don’t worry, the A1 is safe! I use it in my den now, while the XA2 takes over the home theater duties.
Says Home Theater Magazine: “Sure, it takes two minutes to go from standby to when you actually see an image. But, once you do, that image-- and the sound-- is truly amazing. It has simply the best video and audio in a consumer format, ever. Blu-ray is still playing catch-up.” You just cannot get higher praise than this.
Home Cinema Choice magazine has just held their awards also, and have given the award for “Best Hi-Def Player” to the Toshiba XE1. As you may know, this is the European version of the XA2. Congrats again HD DVD!
Says Home Cinema Choice, in their Spring 2007 issue: “The HD DVD format wins out because it is simply the genuine article. Blu-Ray hardware and software is trailing behind HD DVD, which offers genuine user benefits.”
The news is so new, that it is not published yet, but sister magazine, T3 Magazine, notes the latest award from “Home Cinema Choice” with the Headline: "HD DVD Beats Bluray" – and covers the story here
The Perfect Vision, in their new April/May 2007 Issue, says: “Despite the major improvements in Blu-ray discs and players lately, I have to say that, based on my experience with the Toshiba HD-XA2, I still think HD DVD looks better. Not that Blu-ray looks bad these days—far from it—but after reviewing several Blu-ray players, I found myself being drawn more deeply into the HD-XA2’s high-def image... Based solely on my own experience using HDMI, I think the HD-XA2 is among the best high-def disc players on the market today.”

There are also new threads on AVSforum where users have been comparing screen captures from various HD DVD and BD releases and comparing them to standard DVDs, as well as to each other and other Hi Def sources.
You see for yourself how much better HD DVD truly is, every day. Now others who don't own it yet will know too! This is good. Plus, remember that HD DVD sales are once again in the lead!
Long live HD DVD!
