Scores Of New Film Releases For HD DVD Coming To Stores

New HD DVD Releases Flood The Market!

After a temporary dry spell at the start of the year (rumoured to be caused by the AACS hack, and the resultant re-encoding by studios), HD DVD movie releases have gotten back into full stride. And it shows!

Two weeks ago, various press releases confirmed the new onslaught of films two released before the summer, with another 70 films to be released through July, and a total of 300 movies to be available by the end of the year.

And that's not ALL we have to celebrate! In the last few weeks, HD DVD sales have been strengthening massively, and finally, the inevitable has happened. HD DVD is NUMBER ONE is sales again, having passed Bluray again today. We have been very close in the last few weeks, and the celebratory purchases by HD DVD users are making that extra difference. So join in this week and show everyone that HD DVD is the number one format!

And two new studios have joined the HD DVD ranks, one of them as an HD DVD exclusive studio, too. This good news comes on top of The Matrix Trilogy (May 22nd release), the resurgence of HD DVD sales, becoming the Number One HD disc format again, the Universal Player just announced by Samsung and HD DVD winning multiple awards and acclamations as the Best PQ and the Best HD players on the planet.

April 15th is the one year anniversary of the HD DVD format, so celebrate all the good news by checking the list of movies below and picking out a few of your favourites. There's no better way to get more studios signed up to HD DVD than proving that also we have the best sales, as well as the best format.

I'm planning to do some big movie buys this week between Monday the 16th and Thursday the 19th. There is a big online push for owners to show their support during this week, and I think we can show the studios just how strong we are!

I have made three lists below, one is the titles that are already available on HD DVD, then the list of future titles with ship dates through July, and below that is the list of future releases that have been announced, but which have not been given a ship date yet.

I've put links next to some of my favorites (I couldn't mark them all!) showing two online stores where thay can be found, stores which also happen to count in the Nielsen Videoscan sales tracker - which is watched closely by the industry. (Amazon.com and Buy.com)
