Two New Studios To Release Films For HD DVD

(DARN - we had a bad link in the latest newsletter - If you're looking for the "Best Players" story, it is here)

April 14th, 2007

Two New Studios Line Up To Support HD DVD - one exclusively!

After much anticipation, Dreamworks has finally entered the ring and squared up behind HD DVD as a neutral studio and has begun releasing movies to both HD DVD and Bluray!

As reported by HighDefDigest, Dreamworks announced their first release will be “Dreamgirls”, which will street “day and date” with the standard DVD on May 1st. This announcement was rapidly followed by another announcement of “Norbit”, which will street on June 5th, alongside, coincidentally, “Trading Places” and “Coming to America”. Eddie Murphy fans, rejoice!

DreamGirls

But watchout! There’s a new HD DVD exclusive studio joining the parade too! Independent studio, First Look Studios, is launching their first HD DVD salvo on July 24th, with the “day and date” release of the critically praised Bruce Beresford thriller, “The Contract”, starring Morgan Freeman, John Cussack, Ned Bellamy and Alice Krige.

The Contract

A big welcome aboard to both Dreamworks and First Look Studios! We look forward to seeing many more great titles on HD DVD in the months and years ahead!

See the detailed announcements for Dreamgirls, Norbit and First Look Studios, here at High Def Digest.
