Paramount and Dreamworks Movie Summary

August 29th, 2007

These are the films immediately affected by their decisions !

With so many Studios to consider in the format "war", we wanted to give you a quick summary of how the brand new decision by these two studios, Paramount and Dreamworks, will affect the HD Optical Media landscape.

Both studios have said that they will terminate Bluray support immediately, and that they will not supply any additional copies of Bluray titles they have already released, meaning that you can pretty much write off what has been released to Bluray to date.

In addition, they have both announced new titles to HD DVD - word has it that an additional 30 titles will be announced to ship this year.

To start with, in the immediate future, HD DVD will now get Shrek The Third, Transformers and Blades of Glory - and Bluray will not. Please remember to go to the "ACTION" page and send you emails to the studios, the time is perfect for us to act and it will only take you 10 or 15 minutes.

There are 3 titles that were previously announced for BD that will now not be released on Blu-ray

Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: The Original Series


That's a shift of almost 60 titles - this certainly brings the content battle a lot closer. You can see ongoing updates on AVS Forum, in this thread.

The Bluray fansites are rallying their supporters to try to get Warner to go BD exclusive - See our ACTION page here, to get busy - Now is the Golden Hour for us to act and let the studios hear how we feel.
